Tips on Diamond Care

Diamond care is important becouse dust and debris will dull the diamonds natural fire, whether it's a simple setting in a ring or a priceless gem. Natural oils from your skin as well as soap scum and hand lotions will create a dark film on your diamonds and detract from their brilliance.

To avoid this, the stones should be regularly cleaned using mild liquid detergent or soaked in a solution of cold water and household Ammonia. For stubborn grime, consult your local jeweler.

To protect your diamonds, store them in a jewelry case that has velvet lining in it. This serves to keep the diamonds from being dumped in a drawer, where they can rub and scrape one another. If they are loose diamonds, it is wise to carefully place them in a round gemstone case. They can then be enjoyed and handled without the fear of being touched by the human hand.

To prevent loss, its wise to have your prongs and settings periodically checked and tightened by a jeweler at least once a year. You may also want to consider having your diamonds appraised & insured. This depends on the value of your stones and your personal circumstances.

Diamonds can become Family heirlooms that are passed down from generation to generation, as long as they are properly cared for. Diamond Care
